Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island known as West Island. The people who aren't familiar with this term frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere in the west of Montreal However, in reality this part of West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel developed on Courtice located just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. When she was a child, she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. The Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. Many former dancers turn into acting. In the case of Brugel it was the result of a recommendation from her teacher in drama. The teacher encouraged her to audition for a part in a school production. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the main character for Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been performing in over 60 plays, big and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian cast member for Season 1 of the show and was not seen much.
